About Temperature Control Systems
People usually ask two things about Temperature Control Systems: how fast we get there, and whether we have done their kind of work before. The answers are same day across most of Suffolk County and faster than that on an emergency, and a job history since 1999 that runs from a deli reach-in to a rooftop changeout.
How a refrigeration shop ended up covering whole buildings
The work grew outward from refrigeration. Restaurants and delis brought their walk-ins and display cases, then asked about the rooftop unit. Grocery and convenience stores brought cold storage. Warehouses, medical and dental offices, schools and office buildings followed. Along the way, Suffolk County homeowners found the same technicians for central air, furnaces, boilers and heat pumps.
Today that covers commercial refrigeration, commercial HVAC, heating and air conditioning across Long Island, from Huntington out to Montauk. The commercial half sets the standard for everything else: equipment that runs eighteen hours a day, municipal permits and commercial inspections, and buildings that cannot close for a repair.
None of that changed how the work gets done. Answer the phone. Get there fast. Price the job before the wrench comes out. Do the work well enough that the customer calls the same number in five years. Twenty-seven years in, that is still the entire method.
Larry Brett, owner
Larry founded Temperature Control Systems in Ronkonkoma in 1999 with a service truck and a straightforward idea: when a Long Island business loses refrigeration or heat, every hour of downtime costs them money, and they deserve a contractor who treats it that way. More than 6,000 completed projects later, he still runs the company on the same principles, honest pricing, fast response, and doing the job right the first time.
Under his direction the team has grown to serve restaurants, delis, grocery stores, warehouses, medical offices and homeowners from Huntington to Montauk. Larry has built long-term relationships across Suffolk and Nassau County, with many clients staying with the company for 15 years or more. He remains personally involved in the work, holding his technicians to the same standard of professionalism and clean, efficient service that built the business.
If you call after hours, you are not reaching a national call center that will pass a ticket to whoever is closest. You are reaching the company that will do the work.
What actually happens after you call
Five stages, start to finish, so there are no surprises about who shows up, when, or what it costs.
- 1The call
- 2Dispatch
- 3Diagnosis
- 4The price
- 5The repair
The call
You reach a person, not a queue. Tell us the equipment, the symptom and the address. On an emergency that call is the fastest thing you can do, because it starts a truck moving while you are still describing the problem.
Dispatch
Emergency calls go to whoever is closest and qualified for that equipment, which is why the truck that turns up already knows the system. Scheduled work gets a window you can plan a shift around, including early morning and after hours for businesses that cannot close during opening hours.
Diagnosis
The technician finds the actual fault before quoting a part. On refrigeration that means checking the charge, the defrost cycle, the condenser and the airflow rather than condemning a compressor because the box is warm. You are told what failed and why, in plain language.
The price
You hear the number while the technician is still standing there, before any part is opened. If a repair turns into a replacement conversation you get both figures, including what the repair buys you in remaining service life and what a new system costs installed and permitted. Every line on the final invoice was discussed at the visit.
The repair
Trucks carry the common failure parts for the equipment we service most, so most calls finish on the first visit. Drop cloths go down, the work area is left clean, and on installations the municipal permit and the inspection are handled by us rather than left with you.
What we install, service and maintain
Most customers start with one of these four and end up using two or three, because a building rarely has only one thing that can fail. Keeping all of it with one contractor means the same company answers for the walk-in and the rooftop unit, so there is never a question of which trade owns the problem.
Commercial refrigeration
Walk-in coolers and freezers, reach-ins, refrigerated prep tables, display cases, ice machines and custom cold storage for restaurants, delis, groceries and warehouses.
Commercial HVAC
Rooftop units, split systems and zoned commercial setups, with permitting, crane scheduling and off hour installs so a business does not lose a working day.
Heating
Gas and electric furnaces, steam and hot water boilers, heat pumps and forced air systems, plus emergency heating service through the winter.
Air conditioning
Central air and ductless mini split installation, repair and maintenance, sized with a real load calculation on the building.
The credentials behind the work
Licensing and municipal permits are a matter of public record. Everything else below, from insurance certificates and certification cards to the written scope of a maintenance agreement, we will put in front of you before work starts on your site.
Licensed and insured
A fully licensed and insured commercial HVAC and refrigeration contractor in Suffolk County, New York.
EPA Section 608 certified
Refrigerant handling is federally regulated. Our technicians hold EPA Section 608 certification, which is the baseline for anyone opening a sealed refrigeration system.
Trained across the major brands
Technicians are trained and factory qualified on the major HVAC and refrigeration equipment brands. Tell us what you have on site and we will tell you plainly whether we service it.
Permitted and inspection ready
Installations are permitted through the municipality and built to code, so a commercial inspection does not become a second project after the fact.
Maintenance built to the equipment
Agreements are written around the equipment on your site and the inspection schedule you face, and the scope is listed item by item before you sign anything.
We are based where the driving time is shortest
The shop is on Elder Lane in Ronkonkoma, near the middle of the island and inside a short drive of most of Suffolk County. That location is why a 90 minute response holds up across most of the county. Trucks run daily through Islip and Central Islip, Huntington and Huntington Station, Babylon and West Babylon, Patchogue, Brookhaven, Smithtown, Sayville, Selden and East Islip, and the service area reaches across Nassau County and east toward Montauk.
Local matters most on the calls nobody plans for. A Friday evening walk-in failure is a different problem for a company based in Ronkonkoma than it is for one dispatching from off the island.

What customers say after fifteen years
I have used Temperature Control at my place of business and for personnel use for over 15 years. Very easy to deal with. Prompt service. Personality says so much about a business and Larry and Alex know how to treat there customers, with a smile and a "no problem we'll take care of it" type of attitude. Would and have recommended them to so many people over the years. Everyone has always been happy.
Best AC service around! Alex was able to trouble shoot and repair an intermittent central AC problem at my home quickly and efficiently. He was knowledgable, prompt and professional. He got the part we needed quickly and had us up and running in no time! Highly recommended. Wouldn't use anyone else.
Extremely professional, knowledgeable staff , great pricing, there is nothing that they can't fix, also, response time is fantastic, they are the only company I'd use!!!
Talk to the people who will do the work
Whether it is a quote for a rooftop changeout or a walk-in that stopped holding temperature an hour ago, the same number reaches the same company.
